*Bombing Yemen to Save Yemen, says Saudi Arabia (just like Israel claimed to be bombing Gaza to save Gazans from Hamas) – Yemen Times
The Riyadh Conference was launched on Sunday under the slogan “Saving Yemen & Building a Federal State”. The three day conference, on its first day called for resuming the political process in accordance with the Gulf Initiative and the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference.
President Hadi, Prime Minister Khaled Bahah and more than 400 delegates including members of Islah party and the General People’s Congress (GPC) took part in the Riyadh Conference. The Houthis did not have any representation at the conference, as they refused to take part and demanded the talks to be held in Yemen.
The invitation to participate in the conference was open to all parties under the condition of recognizing the legitimacy of President Hadi and his government. President Hadi said in his statement, “We look forward to building a federal Yemen that never excludes any party.”
Abdulaziz al-Jaber, the head of the conference’s organizing committee said in the conference that any political solution in Yemen should go according to the UN Security Council Resolution 2216, which demands the withdrawal of Houthi forces from the capital Sana’a and the rest of the cities, returning all governmental institutions to the legitimate government, and putting down their weapons/
The UN envoy to Yemen, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, said that the United Nations recognizes that the GCC states have a pivotal role in resolving the Yemeni crisis, and that there will be no solution to the crisis without negotiations that don’t exclude anyone. He also appealed to all parties involved in the conflict to facilitate the access of aid to all those in need
