U.S. senator says sees Iran nuclear bill vote as soon as Thursday – Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker said on Tuesday that he sees an “overwhelming” vote to pass the Iran nuclear review bill as soon as Thursday.

Corker, a Republican, told reporters at the U.S. Capitol that leaders were still working out a way to allow the Senate to consider amendments to the bill, which would allow Congress to review an international nuclear agreement with Tehran before most sanctions on Iran could be waived.

“My sense is that Thursday there’s a very good chance that we’ll have an overwhelming vote,” Corker said.

A dispute among Republican senators over amendments last week left Senate leaders scrambling for a way to move forward with the legislation, which was approved by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee by a 19-0 vote.

All 67 proposed amendments to the bill have been offered by Republicans.
