Russia Warns Israel May Supply Weapons to Ukraine – Prensa Latina

Moscow, Apr 18 (Prensa Latina) Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday warned that a possible supply of Israeli lethal weapons to Ukraine might lead to worsen confrontation and increase human casualties southeastern Ukraine.

Putin’s statements came after the announcement that Tel Aviv might supply weapons to Ukraine in response to Russia’s lifting the embargo on the contract to sale S-300 missiles to Iran.

“I think it is counterproductive, if it concerns lethal weapons, because it will only lead to yet another swirl of confrontation, to more human casualties, but the result will be the same,” said the president in an interview with Week News Program of Rossia 1 television channel.

Putin announced on Monday the decision to lift the ban on S-300 air defense systems sales to Iran, thus cancelling a 2010 presidential decree that Moscow established in the context of the UN Security Council’s sanctions imposed on Iran.

The Russian president expressed in the interview his country’s will to cooperate with any US president following the 2016 elections.

Putin said that Moscow does not collaborate with a specific person, but with a big country that has great influence in the world, and added that his country has differences with Washington in a series of stances and topics of the international agenda, chiefly those related to security and the US unilateral withdrawal from anti-missile defense system.
